Special Needs Trusts and CRUTS
Monday, November 2
10:00 to Noon Pacific Time

2 hours of CPE
Course level: Intermediate

Two unique types of trusts; two overviews of how they are used and the unique quirks related to their tax preparation. Special Needs Trusts are a vital financial tool for individuals with disabilities, enabling them to access supplemental resources without losing eligibility for essential government programs like Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. A Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) is an irrevocable, tax-exempt, split-interest trust that pays an annual income stream to a non-charitable beneficiary for life or up to 20 years, after which the remaining assets go to a qualified charity. It doesn’t even use a Form 1041!
